JOB DESCRIPTION



TITLE:    Early Childhood Special Educator

 

LENGTH OF WORK YEAR:  174 days consistent with the school calendar. 

Additional days from June to August may be needed on an hourly basis to complete Child Find assessments.

 

SALARY: Placement on the San Juan BOCES Salary Table is dependent on education and experience as determined by the San Juan BOCES Administrative Team. 

 

STARTING DATE:  2024-2025 School Year

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. CDE Licensure in Early Childhood Special \Education and related services 

JOB GOAL: The function of the Early Childhood Special Educator (ECSE) is to provide itinerant special education, assessment services, and case management to preschool students with disabilities, three to five years of age in the assigned San Juan BOCES member school districts.  The ECSE also provides assessment for children with suspected disabilities for children referred to San Juan/SW Kids for Part C services.  

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  1. Manage an assigned caseload of preschool children who have been identified with disabilities, which would include but not be limited to;
  1. Provide consultation to all assigned preschool sites where children with disabilities are assigned;   
  2. Serve as a multidisciplinary team member with assigned students;
  3. Lead Initial Eligibility meetings and Annual Review IEP meetings as the case manager;
  4. Write and review assigned IEPs;
  5. Support the implementation of standards-driven early childhood curriculum in assigned sites;
  6. Supervise BOCES-funded paraprofessionals in assigned sites;
  7. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
