TITLE: Mental Health Professional - New Wings Program
This leadership position is an exciting opportunity to provide direct behavioral health services to students identified for the day treatment program as well as program development and oversight. The New Wings Day Treatment program is a collaboration of the Department of Human Services, Montezuma-Cortez RE-1 School District and the SJ BOCES.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Colorado Department of Education License for school social work or eligible for Colorado state licensure within 6 months of hire.
- DORA clinical mental health licensure (LPC, LMFT, LCSW)
- Licensed ESS Teacher with specific training and experience working with students with Significant Emotional Disabilities.
Must agree to submit to both the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Child Abuse Central Registry background checks as required for security clearance.
JOB GOAL: The Program Leader will be responsible for the coordination of services for all students in the New Wings Program to ensure appropriate and quality services are provided.
PERFORMANCE QUALITIES:
- Prior professional experience working with at-risk students
- Strong leadership qualities and preferred experience with program development
- Organized, time management, attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to supervise paraprofessional staff
- Strong classroom management & behavior management skills
- CPI and CPR Certified
- Training and experience with Trauma Informed Care preferred
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Systems
- Completes a thorough intake for each student in the New Wings program. Reviews records and collects information from other sources including families, community partners and schools.
- Facilitates weekly team meetings with New Wings staff, Department of Human Services Caseworker, and the SJBOCES Social Worker, for supervision and to review student progress and ensure best practice services for all students and families.
Academic/Skill Building
- Works collaboratively with the ESS teacher to develop a daily schedule and plan to meet all academic, social/emotional and behavioral needs of each student.
- Develops and maintains all behavioral intervention and tracking systems for each student in the New Wings program. Collaborates with school based staff to collect this data and reports this data back to the team.
Direct Service/Supervision of Paraprofessionals
- Facilitates daily individual, small group and whole group interventions for students in the New Wings facility to teach skills and address goals as defined in the intake.
- Provides direct supervision to program paraprofessionals to ensure all plans for each student are carried out with fidelity.
Crisis Interventions
- Develops and oversees crisis response plans for all students in the New Wings Program
- Uses CPI de-escalation techniques and physical interventions when needed in a crisis situation.
Therapeutic Interventions
- Meets weekly with each student in the program for therapeutic services
- Meets twice monthly with each family in the program for family therapeutic services
Documentation
Maintains and documents daily communication with families
Maintains case notes for all therapeutic sessions
Progress monitors for IEP goals
Tracks progress for behavior systems (BIP)
Reports to: Behavioral Health Coordinator and ESS Director
LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 205 days
- 181 school days plus up to 24 work days during the summer to continue individual/family therapy
