JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Paraprofessional for students with disabilities: Summer ESY (Extended School Year) and Summer Enrichment Program
LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: - Hours may vary depending on location and program placement.
Typical schedule may be Monday - Thursday 8:00 am -11:30 pm
SALARY: $20.00/hr for new employees
STARTING DATE: June 2023- July 2023 (exact dates vary by location)
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma; experience working with children with disabilities
JOB GOAL: To assist students in their educational, physical, emotional, and social growth in the summer learning environment under the direction of the special education teacher and coordinator.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with expanding students’ academic needs, communication skills, using sign language, adaptive technology devices, and computers, as designed by a licensed therapist or teacher.
- Assist with motor skills development program as designed by licensed therapists.
- Assist students on/off school buses, with feeding, toileting, positioning, wheelchair transfer, hygiene, and cleanliness.
- Assist in carrying out behavior modification programs and assisting in teaching social-emotional learning curriculum.
- Facilitate students’ active participation with peers.
- Perform clerical duties, prepare/organize classroom materials, and clean workspace.
- Exhibits effective communication skills with students, parents, and staff.
- Participates as a cooperative team member.
