The District Mechanic is under the supervision of the transportation director and/or the superintendent, to perform repairs and regular maintenance keeping school district buses, vehicles and grounds equipment in proper operating condition.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have training in both diesel and gas powered equipment and vehicles.
- Must have experience diagnosing and repairing diesel and gasoline engines, vehicle computerization systems, electrical systems and suspension systems.
- Must furnish basic hand tools required for mechanic duties.
- Must have current commercial driver’s license or able to obtain one
- Must have current CPR and first aid card training or have it within 90 days.
- Must be physically able to perform all duties of the job. Position requires ability associated with prolonged periods of heavy physical labor. Position regularly performs heavy physical labor requiring ability to lift, carry, push, pull and move heavy objects or material. Physical demand for strength and endurance. Require lifting over 50 pounds on continuous basis.
- Must be brake qualified per federal regulations or must be eligible to be brake qualified as required by CDE regulations.
- Must be able to pass and retain state inspector qualifications as required by CDE.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must demonstrate competence to make mature judgments on mechanical matters.
- Must be able to complete repair requests and monthly reports as required.
- Ability to work in harmony with other people.
