JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:  School Social Worker

 

LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 181 days - consistent with the school calendar.

 

SALARY:  Salary Schedule 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Masters degree in Social Work, Colorado Department of Education License for school social work or eligible for Colorado state licensure.

 

JOB GOAL:  The goal of this position is to maximize student achievement through screening, assessment, Individual and/or group support and/or skill building services and consultation for students with significant educational/social/emotional needs and/or IEPs.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Participation in the process of Response to Intervention and identification of students suspected of having disabilities and other barriers that impede learning.
  2. Individual and/or group support and/or skill building with students experiencing mental health or social issues.
  3. Developing and implementing student support programs for identified students.
  4. Collection of biopsychosocial and developmental history data and compilation of information gathered into a comprehensive report for the purpose of evaluation and/or consultation.
  5. Participate in school based plans for emergency situations and crisis intervention.
  6. Increasing parent involvement in the schools through networking, parent training, phone contacts and home visits.
  7. Navigating service support systems accessing resources for students and their families.
  8. Collaboration with teachers and other staff in areas of student need, e.g. behavior management, crisis, abuse, etc.
  9. Documentation, which includes but is not limited to, record keeping, progress notes, data collection for progress toward goals on IEPs and RtI plans, and student demographic information.
  10. Participation as a building level Child Study/CARE Team member to address individual student needs.
  11. Other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Exceptional Student Services and/or the Executive Director of the BOCES.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:  Supervised by Director of Exceptional Student Services.
